I have to say, I’ve been quite lucky lately. At the gym I go to they’ve been running some games and each time you work out you can play and if you win you get to put your name in the drawing for a prize. I won last week and won a pumpkin scented candle and holder. It’s really nice. Then they had a holiday bazaar and had a raffle so I bought 5 tickets and I won that. It was a goody box that had socks, a nail fail, hair ties, energy bar, and some sugar free chocolate mints inside. I haven’t tried the bar or the mints yet but  I can always use new workout socks and hair ties. Then yesterday when  I was working out I won the game so I am in it for this week again. It makes working out fun. Plus if you work out at least 3 times a week, plus there are other ways to earn points, you get 3 points towards this end of the year game we are playing. So far I have 151 points. Not sure how many other people have, but I keep obtaining points. Now if only I’d start losing weight instead of winning prizes. Oh well, at least it’s not all for naught. Right?

I don’t care if this comes across as a rant. There’s a new girl being trained at the gym I go to. She is going to be working 3 nights a week I find out last night. She is overly chipper if you ask me. Loud, obnoxious, and sticks her big nose in other people’s business. Last night as I told you I wasn’t feeling too great. I was dizzy and just kind of out of it. I worked out anyway hoping it would make me feel better. Well it was crowded for one, which ticked me off since it’s not usually crowded at 3:30. Then to top it off the new girl was there. She kept asking questions and trying to talk to me and you’d think she’d get the hint I didn’t feel much like talking but no, kept pressing on. Then when I was stretching she had the nerve to ask me if I was feeling alright. First of all you just met me, you don’t know what’s normal for me and what’s not. Second of all I don’t like you so bug off sister. But of course me being as nice as I am did not say any of that but instead just nodded and bolted for the door. UGH. I embrace change but why can’t things just stay the same? At least until April when I will cancel my membership. Is that too much to ask? Maybe I should cancel in January instead. That is when I can get out without no penalties. Ok, I hear you, give it some time, I might warm up to her and like her in time. Right now it doesn’t seem possible but I’ve learned to never say never.

I was just thinking how glad I will be when the end of this blog for 365 days is finally over. It is a lot harder than one would imagine. I am not going to commit to this again next year, that’s for sure.

I am feeling a bit dizzy today for some reason. Not sure what’s up with that. I hope it passes soon.

Nothing much else going on. Typical Monday spent wasted working wishing I was doing something else.

We had a great day yesterday downtown. Dirty Dancing was pretty good except for Johnny. He shouldn’t have an accent IMO and he also missed the lift at the end which was anti-climatic. All in all tho it was a fun time. I like taking the train and being downtown once in a while. There is not way I’d want to live down there tho. I am more a country girl over a city girl. Good thing since I am moving to the country, really I am. It wasn’t as cold as I thought it might be and I was warm in my winter coat and didn’t even need the ear muffs I brought along. We had dinner in an underground Chicago grill. It seemed more like a hideout for the mob, but other than that it was ok. I wouldn’t go back tho. The burger was not very good and the mustard seemed a weird color tho J told me it was the lighting in there. I think that’s his go to phrase for when I get too picky and he doesn’t want to deal with it. The train ride was fun to people watch. No RVW sighting tho.

I just finished up wrapping the presents we need to bring to NC with us and I thought I was done and put everything away and then remembered one more I need to wrap that I’ve been looking for a box for. I best get my butt in gear and get r done.

Today I’m headed downtown to see Dirty Dancing! It’s the pre-Broadway premiere. The only downer is that it’s predicted to be the coldest day we’ve had in 8 months. It figures last week we had 70 degree weather and today it’s only in the 40s and it will be much colder downtown of course. I am determined to stay positive and enjoy myself tho. I will just bundle up. I need to find my ear muffs. I better get to that. Have a happy Saturday!

I am trying to be good and exercise and lose weight but chocolate is against me for some reason. It is my weakness I guess. Actually sweets in general are. I like cookies too. I don’t discriminate. Give me sweet over salty or greasy any day. I am getting discouraged. My European vacation will be here before you know it and I will be as fast and sassy as ever. ugh, it sucks all forms. I know I keep complaining but cut a fat girl some slack, or at least a brownie, would ya? Shanks.

I’m talking about my cough of course. It’s annoying and tiring and I’m sick of it already. Go away. Shoo. Go on with your bad self. Buh bye.

I can’t believe I forgot to blog about this last week. Here’s some background for ya. I’ve been waiting for almost a year now for TV Guide - the most awesome publication out there IMO - to have their renewal gift be the TV Guide throw. It’s just a simple brown blanket with the TV Guide logo on it but to me it’s like gold. I want that thing and have been holding out for it. I was getting dangerously close to missing an issue if I didn’t renew soon. Thankfully last week I got the renewal and the free gift is alas the TV Guide throw. Cakes and pies, cakes and pies! I am so happy. I am easy to please obviously. I know it sounds silly but I feel like I just won a marathon or something. Way to perservere right? WOO HOO! Now I can’t wait for my precious item to arrive. I hope it covers more than my big toe, but I don’t care. I just want it. I will let you know in 4 to 6 weeks when it arrives. I hope whatever your TV Guide throw moment is that it happens for you soon. Hang in there - good things do happen to those who wait. I’m living proof!

No mail today which means no TV Guide. Great. It used to always come on Mondays but lately it’s been coming on Tuesdays. Another one of life’s minor annoyances.

I’m not feeling any better. I did sleep a little better last night tho I dreamt about a 5 foot boa constrictor in my back yard and also going to a new Chinese restaurant and not liking their food. Weird dream combo.

Not much else going on. Tonight is class, hope I feel up to going. Hope everyone is healthy and if not may all your colds be short ones and all your coughs be productive.

I try not to use this blog for all rants and whines but sometimes you just gotta. I am miserable today and feel like Ive been hit by a Mack truck carrying tons of steel. Happy freakin’ Monday ya’all. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

Today was a pretty low key day spent at home working on Christmas presents. I felt fine until after dinner when all of the sudden out of the blue I got a sore throat followed by a runny nose and sinus congestion. I was hoping it was allergies and would pass but nope, not with my luck. I got the chills and had a rough night with just about 0 sleep. It seems I finally got comfortable and fell asleep and it was time to get up for work. Just great. I know I should be thankful if I had to get it to get it now and not over the holidays, but still, it sucks all forms. I know a lot of people have been sick so it’s going around. I feel for ya. Here’s to a speedy recovery. blaht

Last night at Curves the owner knew I was looking for extra copies of the newspaper as I had been in the night before complaining about it, and she said she just got off the phone with someone that was just at CVS and they had extra copies. I said of yesterday’s paper? Thinking they didn’t know what they were talking about and she said yes. So it’s on my way home anyway so I stop in and sure enough, they have copies of yeserday’s edition. I buy all but one. Don’t ask me why, I just felt I should leave one for somebody else and not be totally greedy. The whole time I’m standing in line with this stack of papers I’m thinking I bet they’re going to tell me there’s a limit of one per person or something and I’m going to feel so dumb, but nope, not a word just checked me out and I was on my way. I was so excited to find these that I forgot to look to see if they had the Sun Times, but that one isn’t as good as the Trib so I am not going to worry about it. So that’s my good news for the day. What a find!

Special birthday shout outs to my niece today who turns 12!

So luckily we get the Chicago Tribune delivered so we got our copy with the Obama headlines. I didn’t realize how crazy it was going to be and that the papers would sell out so fast. I wanted to get some extra copies for a few people that don’t live here and that want them but I went everywhere imaginable and called all over the place and most places sold out by 7:30 a.m. I see them going on eBay for $100 a pop. Insanity! You can order them online but for a 75cent paper it’s over $10 in Fed Ex shipping charges. Can you say bend over?

It’s the dawn of a new day. I have high hopes for our country under the new leadership of Barack Obama. We’ve witnessed history in the making. How exciting is that? A lot of people are comparing Obama to JFK. I was too young for JFK. I am looking forward to seeing some much over do changes now. Please don’t disappoint President Obama. We are counting on you.

I am so glad this day has arrived. I am sick to death of all the political calls, signs, TV coverage, commercials, the list goes on and on. I do my best not to talk politics with anyone as it’s not worth getting all upset over something like that. I hope the best man wins, that’s all I’ll say on the topic. Oh, and for all you candidates that called me? Don’t worry, I took note of your name and made sure NOT to vote for you since you distrubed me and invaded my privacy by calling my number when I’m on the Do Not Call list. So thanks for making my choice clear.

I learned another one of those awesome life lessons today. Do not be so trusting. I am talking about a project at work that I trusted someone to work on and sent it to oh, just ALL of our clients, and come to find out there were mistakes in it. Yep you guessed it, I’m the one that ends up looking like the idiot stick. And it’s not like I can send out a note to everyone saying who’s to blame. I learned a lesson from it all so I guess that’s something at least. I should have re-checked and checked again before sending it out but stupid me is way too trusting of people. At least I can confidently say this won’t happen again. Not this, but I suppose something else will. Ahh, gotta love it.

What did you do with your extra hour? I suppose like many I spent mine sleeping. It’s going to take some time to get used to this new light in the morning and darker earlier at night. I woke up an hour earlier today and suppose I will for a few weeks until I adjust. Am I alone in saying I think we should just leave the time alone now and just stay on Standard time? It seems to me it’d be a lot easier.
